Frequently Asked Questions

A: A full shower remodel usually takes about 10 business days, depending on the scope of work. This includes:

  •  demolition,
  •  subfloor repair,
  •  framing,
  • moving plumbing,
  •  installing pre-slope and new liner,
  • performing flood test for min 2 hours for vinyl and 24 h for Kerdi,
  • dry pack  mud pan,
  •  installing cement board,
  •  waterproofing (with Kerdi or Redgard),
  • tiling,
  •  grouting, caulking and fixture installation.

Larger or custom showers with features like niches, floating benches, or heated floors may take longer. Our installation methods follow professional guidelines and respect the required drying and setting times—also called technological intervals. This ensures each stage, from waterproofing to tile setting, cures properly before moving on. These best practices are based on industry standards set by the National Tile Contractors Association (NTCA), as outlined in their NTCA Reference Manual and TCNA Handbook. A: If your shower is leaking, it’s often due to failed waterproofing or a bad shower pan. These issues can’t be fixed with just caulking. To properly diagnose the problem, we recommend performing a flood test, which checks if the shower pan and membrane are holding water as they should. If the test fails, the shower will need to be partially or fully rebuilt to replace the waterproofing system. Proper repair prevents long-term damage to your subfloor and surrounding walls.

A: A simple backsplash takes about 2–3 days. If demo of old tile and backing is needed, add a day for removal and another for installing new cement board. Complex layouts or large backsplashes may take up to 5–6 days. We always ensure the surface is properly prepared and the finish is clean and durable.

A: We provide all necessary professional-grade setting materials, including cement board, waterproofing systems (like Kerdi or RedGard), thinset, grout, and sealants. You are welcome to choose and supply your own finish materials such as tile, trim, vanity, and fixtures. We’re happy to advise on tile selection and ensure compatibility with your project. If preferred, we can also handle the full supply for an additional fee, ensuring everything meets industry standards.

A: Yes—if the tiles are still firmly bonded and the surface is stable, regrouting can be a great way to refresh the look and improve water resistance. We remove the old grout and apply new, professional-grade grout, followed by sealing if needed.

However, if tiles are loose or hollow-sounding, regrouting won’t solve the root problem. Loose tiles often indicate a failure in the installation below—especially in floors with heated mats where tiles were cut tight to the wall without proper expansion joints. In those cases, the movement causes the grout to crack and tiles to come loose. To fix it properly, the entire floor—including the heat mat—may need to be redone.

We always assess the cause of grout failure before recommending a solution.

A: Absolutely. Many clients come to us unsure about the details—that’s completely normal! We offer a free consultation based on photos or videos of your space, which helps us understand your needs and provide initial guidance. For an onsite consultation or detailed inspection, we charge a reasonable fee, which can be credited toward your project if you decide to move forward. This approach ensures we give you accurate advice tailored to your situation while respecting both your and our time.
